If today were your last, what would you do right now? What would go straight to first place on your to do list? What would the quality of your attention be? | You can practice along with us. Here’s how.

  1. Kelly Says:

I would gather the people I love and love on them.

  2. Mel Says:

    I would leave work.
I would call up my friend, whom I have had strong feeling for, and tell him how I feel.
I would tell as many people as possible how much I love them, and why I love them.
I would go jump in the lake, even though it’s about 0 degrees outside.
I would grab my three best friends, a big case of beer, and party the rest of the day away, talking about everything that’s important, and give them the specs for the party that I want in lieu of a funeral.

I would be attentive only to that moment, and the people I adore. Uninhibited communication would be my goal.

  3. sarah (the SHU box) Says:

    - i would skip my night shift tonight (sorry!)
    - i would do what kelly wrote, above
    - i would drink a bottle of the best champagne i could get my hands on
    - i would go out to a beautiful place and try to be thankful about all that i have gotten to experience up until this point

  4. Kurt Says:

I would go for a nice long hike outside, then relax next to a fire place and play music with my folks.

  5. JessHampson Says:

    I would quit my job…
I would gather all my friends and the people I love and go dancing/karaoke-ing all night long

  6. regina Says:

i would walk and run and frolick in the sun and in nature. i would drink a couple glasses of the best red wine i could get my hands on. i would rally to get all my family together, all my friends together and just BE with them. i would celebrate. love. hold. be held. be grateful. dance. cry. sing. pray.

  7. Sarah E. Welch Says:

I would snuggle in bed with my husband. Done.

  8. emma Says:

I would take a long walk in the mountains or along a deserted beach with my niece to see the world one last time through her eyes. Then, I would laugh and dance and forgive and love as much as possible.

  9. Kerri Says:

I would hang with my 13 year-old son. Probably that would be it. Take him to a restaurant, wrestle on the bed, read to him (we’re working on The Lightning Thief), love him up without stopping. Cuddle up next to him as he fell asleep.

  10. Lonnie Says:

These are all great ideas and I would want to do every one of them, but how do we know today isn’t our last day. Really. The Last Day. Maybe we should live like this all the time. I dunno.

  11. scott Says:

With my full attention, I would help my kids get ready for bed, tuck them in, kisses on the forehead, turn out the lights. The end.

  12. Kathleen Says:

I would wake my daughter up, grab my husband, and all three of us would drive out into the desert with a bottle of wine and look at the stars. I’d call my mom too to say goodbye.

  13. mindpirate Says:

I would spend the day playing music with my family.

  14. Julie Jordan Scott Says:

    I blogged about it.

And I am of the belief that “who says?” this day isn’t our last. It very well could be. I sat on the porch holding my puppy as I thought of this question. It was the perfect thing for me to be doing.

I walked both my dogs, enjoying every breath.

The perfect thing to be doing.

    This could be my last.
