Hey guys another great podcast – totally get what you are saying about not leaving comments or even saying thanks for what you are doing, so I am going to break both and say thank you and also make my seoond posting! Again really related to what you said Gwen about it feeling a bit intimidating at first, especially when you are talking about things such as your mind, but hey this is my second post, yay! I think that it’s easier when you have people like you guys who lead things like this and have such approachable characters, well it’s worked for me!

Thanks for your views on my comments Patrick & Gwen – your reflections on my post really made it worthwhile posting. I’m really enjoying your new podcast it’s as good as/better than Zen is Stupid. I listened to every episode but just “lurked” and now kinda felt guilty that I didn’t post and say how much I appreciated you taking the time to make such worthwhile things on the internet. But I promise i’m going to input into this great project.

Especially liked what you were saying about time, maybe this could be one of the daily tasks. I have actually found that by approaching zazen for 10-20 mins a day has really improved my productivity, which gets back to the whole time thing. I completely agree with you Patrick on that “buzz” you get when you are feeling busy, but that buzz actually distracts you from what you are doing from my experience. By taking the time you actually approach your work/social life in a much more focused way, which means you actually get more done skillfully. I’m sure I’ve heard Patrick on some podcast or video or something saying that people say they are to stressed or don’t have time to do zazen, it’s not for them, which is fair enough…everyone is entitled to their opinion but I just can’t agree with that one. Man, when you are just sitting for 20 mins for me that feels like forever, however how easy is it to fritter 20 minutes away running around like a headless chicken on heat! Oh, an afterthought, Patrick you are totally right – most of the time zazen is soooo boring…but it definately has it’s value!!!
If you lead a really busy/hectic life it’s quite a good exercise to go cold from that chaos and just sit for a minute, it is amazing how long that minute feels and how difficult it is to do nothing. I Don’t know, there might be a constructive daily task in there somewhere, will leave it with you guys. But it totally links in with what Gwen was saying about time, “we can basically drop “busy” from our vocabulary” – I’ve met so many people that say they are too busy to do this or that but then sit for 4 hours watching sitcoms and reality TV every night, which there is nothing wrong with if thats what you want to do but these supposedly relaxing things become tasks and culminate into this persons “busy” day, and by them scheduling in these “tasks” into their daily schedule it actually stresses them out more than relaxes them. I would be more tempted to say busy is a mood. That was a bit of a spontaneous rant, so I hope it made sense…it might need interpreting!

I love that quote Patrick “Time is Spacious”… that’s noted!!!

Thanks Tania for pointing out zenhabits, will definately check that out!

Oh just a thought, I know that this project is still in it’s baby stages but I was thinking it would be useful if there was a page with recommended reading/viewing etc that is either mentioned on the podcasts or by other commentators like Tania. Would be great for novices like me.

Anyways thanks for another great podcast, keep it up, it’s appreciated!

P.S. Any tips on how to be mindful using less words in posts would also be greatly appreciated…maybe I should start a seperate blog hehe!
